If there is one dish travelers want to try in Paris, it's frog legs — and one address has specialized in them for nearly a century. Roger la Grenouille ("Roger the Frog") opened in 1930 on rue des Grands Augustins, between Odéon and Saint-Michel, and frogs have been the house specialty ever since.

Why this is THE frog legs restaurant in Paris

Most Parisian restaurants dropped frog legs from their menus decades ago. Roger la Grenouille never did. Time Out, Gault&Millau and Atlas Obscura all cite it among the city's essential addresses for the dish — and the dining room, with its 1930s décor and vintage frog memorabilia, is an attraction in itself. Picasso, Saint-Exupéry and Mistinguett were regulars.

What to order

La persillade — the classic: frog legs sautéed in garlic and parsley butter, served with rice. Les fritôts — crispy fried frog legs with béarnaise, bordelaise and aïoli sauces. The frog burger — the house's playful signature creation, with tartare sauce and fries. Not feeling adventurous? The menu also features dry-aged beef, French bistro classics and cheeses matured by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France. See the full menu.
